Sincona sale 33, lot 2120
This specimen was lot 2120 in Sincona sale 33 (Zurich, October 2016), where it sold for 1,250 CHF (about US$1,484 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Ludwig Georg, 1707-1761, unter Vormundschaft seiner Mutter Franziska Sybilla Augusta (gest. 1733) Dukat 1714. Auf den Frieden von Rastatt. Vorzüglich. Kl. Kratzer, Henkelspur. (margraviate of Baden-Baden, Louis George, 1707-61, under the regency of his mother, 1707-27, ducat of 1714, on the peace of Rastatt. Extremely fine, Minor scratches, traces of mounting.)"
The issues of this branch of Baden are few and scanty, being restricted to a gulden of 1704 (KM 18), this rare ducat and a very rare double ducat of 1721. Baden-Baden and Baden-Durlach were reunited in 1771.
