Portugal 1750 X reis rev DSLR.jpg

The Azores, an island group in the Atlantic, long survived on foreign coins brought thither by traders but occasionally Portuguese authorities issued coins for the colonies. This issue is illustrated by a line drawing in the SCWC. The reverse legend, "PECUNIA INSULINAE," marks this as Azores, not Portugal.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 12.8 g, copper, 35 mm diameter.
