This specimen was lot 837 in Jean Elsen sale 108 (Brussels, March 2011) where it sold for €5,500 ($9,035 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRABANT, Duché, Marie-Thérèse (1740-1780), AV double souverain, 1767, Bruxelles. Troisième type. Droit : B. voilé à droite. Revers : Ecu ovale d'Autriche-Bourgogne, couronné, sur une croix de Bourgogne. La première année du type voilé. Extrêmement rare dans cet état de conservation. presque Fleur de Coin" (Duchy of Brabant, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, gold double souverain of 1767, Brussels mint, third type. Obverse: veiled bust facing right; reverse: crowned oval arms of Austria-Burgundy over a cross of Burgundy. First year of the veiled type. Extremely rare in this quality, about Uncirculated.)
It reappeared in Jean Elsen sale 115 (December 2012) where it sold for € 4,000 (about $6,105 including buyer's fee). The catalog description noted, "BRABANT, Duché, Marie-Thérèse (1740-1780), AV double souverain, 1767, Bruxelles. Troisième type. Droit: B. voilé à droite. Revers: Ecu ovale d'Autriche-Bourgogne, couronné, sur une croix de Bourgogne. Provient de notre vente 108, 12 mars 2011, 837. Extrêmement Rare. Le champ légèrement repoli au droit. La première année du type voilé. Superbe à Fleur de Coin."

This type was struck 1767-80 with previous types struck 1756-66 (see Fr-134). The souverain d'or was struck under Maria Theresia's successors until 1798, when the Austrian Netherlands was occupied by the French. None are cheap.
