The specimen shown is an example of a type struck in Austria since 2002. Austria began minting euros in 2002. The admission of additional members caused the reverse of the higher denominations to be redesigned in 2008 to show the enlarged zone but the one and two cent were not affected.

Recorded mintage: 122,900,000 plus 100,000 for BU sets plus 20,000 proofs.

Specification: 2.3 g., copper plated steel, 16.25 mm diameter. Obv: gentian flower; Rev: Value at left, by Luc Luycx Edge: plain.
