Austria 1869-A 2 florins Dav-25A
"Osterreich, Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916 Doppelgulden 1869 A. Wien. Fast vorzüglich. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, double gulden of 1869, Vienna mint. About extremely fine.)"When Bismarck kicked Austria out of Germany after the war of 1866, German and Austrian coins began to diverge. The thaler was abandoned in 1872 for the florin, which in turn was superseded by the corona in 1892. This type of double florin was struck 1867-72. This date is somewhat scarce, especially compared to Dav-27 of 1872-92.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 24.69 g, .900 fine silver, this specimen 24.51 g.
