Austria 1854-A 2 gulden Dav-19
"Doppelgulden 1854. Wien Auf die Hochzeit. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (Austria, double gulden of 1854, on the marriage of the emperor, extremely fine.)"This commemorative is mentioned in Davenport but not in the SCWC, probably because of its semimedallic nature. The wedding was a success but the marriage was not; the beautiful "Sisi" turned out to be a manic-depressive who later committed suicide.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 24.69 g, .900 fine silver, lettered edge, this specimen 25.93 g.
