Kunker sale 264, lot 3473
This specimen was lot 3473 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,455 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Dukat 1778, CA, Wien. GOLD. Vorzüglich +. (Austria, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, ducat of 1778, Vienna mint. Extremely fine or better.)"
This ducat was struck for the redoubtable Maria Theresia 1765-80 and shows the veiled bust used after the death of Francis I. Ducats and double ducats (Fr-191) were also struck for her son, Joseph II, during the period.
