This specimen was lot 22236 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Taler, 1766-F AS. Joseph II (1765-80). PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder. Sharply struck with attractive tone showing iridescent hues and strong underlying luster." On the death of Francis of Lorraine in 1765, his and Maria Theresia's son was crowned emperor Joseph II tho Maria Theresia remained the boss of Austria until her death in 1780. This type of 1765-77 is shown but not priced in the SCWC. It was minted at Hall, Carlsburg and Gunzburg.
