Künker sale 263, lot 1536
This specimen was lot 1536 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabruck, June 2015), where it sold for €2,600 (about US$3,359 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Konv.-Taler 1766, AS, Hall. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Herrliche Patina, fast Stempelglanz. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, convention thaler of 1766, Hall mint. Very rare in this quality, proof, toned, choice uncirculated.)"
The type was struck 1765-72 and is common in all grades. The photo of this coin in the SCWC is incorrect, as it shows the diademed bust used only prior to 1765, when Maria Theresia's husband Francis died.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28.06 g, .833 fine silver, .751 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: Dav-1123; Eypeltauer 195; M./T. 1012, KM 1838.
