Austria 1733-Hall 1/2 thaler
This specimen was lot 6048 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description noted, "AUSTRIA. 1/2 Taler, 1733. Hall Mint. Charles VI (1711-40). NGC MS-64. Handsome example featuring a nicely rendered portrait. Deep medium gray toning over the whole surface with subdued luster showing beneath." The Hall mint was an occasional emitter of half thalers in the eighteenth century. This was the first issue since 1724 and is available despite being a one year type.
