This specimen was lot 30385 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $7,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "Leopold I Taler 1682 I-R AU Details (Edge Filing) NGC, St. Veit mint. An exceptionally rare taler of the 'Hogmouth,' this broad piece, though exhibiting some edge filing as noted by the details designation, nevertheless features lightly toned surfaces and an underlying luster. The only other example which this cataloger could locate sold in 2010 for a hammer of €11,000 (over $13,500 at the time), though it was misdescribed as Dav-3236." The type was struck 1682 and 1693 and is rare.
