Sincona sale 34, lot 4225
This specimen was lot 4225 in Sincona sale 34 (Zurich, October 2016), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$2,849 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Ferdinand III. 1637-1657 Taler 1646. Brünn Münzmeister J. C. Richthausen. Sehr selten. Gutes sehr schön. Kleine Kratzer. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand III, 1637-57, thaler of 1646, Brunn mint, mintmaster J. C. Richthausen. Very rare, Good very fine, Minor scratches.)"
The mint at Brunn, the capital of Moravia, operated only briefly and its products are few.
