Künker sale 293, lot 1568
Sincona sale 43, lot 2616
The first specimen was lot 1568 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,200 (about US$1,617 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Matthias, 1608-1612-1619. Reichstaler 1619, Wien. Mit Münzmeisterzeichen Baum auf der Vorderseite (Isaias Jessensky, Münzmeister in Wien 1617-1619). Attraktives, sehr schönes Exemplar. (Holy Roman Empire, Matthias, 1612-19, thaler of 1619, Vienna mint, with the mintmaster's privy mark (tree) on the obverse. Attractive very fine example.)"
The second specimen was lot 2616 in Sincona sale 43 (Zurich, October 2017), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$716 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"Osterreich, Matthias, (1608-)1612-1619 Taler 1619. Wien. Sehr schön. Stempelriss. NGC VF 35. (Holy Roman Empire, Matthias I, 1612-19, thaler of 1619, Vienna mint. Very fine, Die crack.)"
This type was issued 1617-19 and is somewhat scarce. It varies from the very similar Dav-3049 by lacking "ZC" (the old abbreviation of "et cetera") at the end of the reverse legend. It is an early product of the Vienna mint.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: MzA 107, Voglh. 118 III, Dav-3048, KM 221.
