Austria SB1115-42082r.jpg

This specimen was lot 42082 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it sold for $117.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. 3 Kreuzer, 1560. Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor (1558-64). PCGS AU-53 Secure Holder. Unusually clear portrait with clear legends and date. For the type, exceptionally well preserved and fully original." Altho the thalers remain the focus of collector interest and are the best documented issues, the Habsburgs issued a full panoply of minor coinage, many obscure and likely very rare.
