This specimen was lot 20022 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Penny, 1928-(m). PCGS MS-65 RB Secure Holder. Single finest graded at PCGS with a RED/BROWN designation and none finer. There is one other example at PCGS with a full brown designation at this grade level and none with a full red designation. Nice cartwheel effect with plenty of original mint red. A lovely example sure to make its new owner proud." The SCWC notes this date as inexpensive in circulated condition but rare choice. The type was issued 1911-36.

Sterling coinage was struck for several countries besides Great Britain, including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Southern Rhodesia, Fiji and New Guinea. All converted to decimal coinage in the 1960's.
