This specimen was lot 70178 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. 3 Pence, 1923. NGC MS-62. Mintage of 815,000, one of the lowest for the type. Good strike and fully lustrous." The SCWC lists this type for 1911-36. This date, from the Melbourne mint, is scarce. Other mints include London (1911-15) and Sydney (1924-26). Australia maintained the sterling silver standard until 1945, years after Great Britain had debased her coins to .500 fine.

Recorded mintage: 815,000 plus a few proofs.
