Australia 1910 3 pence
This specimen was part of lot 3203 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), which sold for $246.75. The catalog description noted, "AUSTRALIA. 3 Pence, 6 Pence & Shilling, 1910. NGC MS-63. 3 pieces in lot. Nicely matched set from the last year of Edward VII's reign. One year only issues. CHOICE BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED." The year 1910 saw the introduction of coinage struck specifically for Australia with a threepence (shown here), sixpence, shilling and florin. Bronze halfpennies and pennies were added in 1911. Only the florin is scarce.
