This specimen was lot 103 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €17,000 (about US$22,913 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"AUGSBURG, STADT, Dreifacher Reichstaler 1626, mit Titel Ferdinands II. Das Stadtpyr in ovaler, reich verzierter Kartusche, oben Engelskopf, unten Hufeisen//Gekrönter Adler, den Kopf nach r. gewandt, in den Fängen Zepter, Schwert und Reichsapfel. Von größter Seltenheit. Feine Patina, winz. Randfehler, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Augsburg, triple thaler of 1626, struck in the name of Ferdinand II. Obverse: city badge in cartouche, angel's head above, horseshoe below; reverse: crowned eagle holds scepter, sword and orb. Of the highest rarity, fine patina, light hairlines, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This very rare type is not priced in the SCWC. It is accompanied by a double thaler (KM 42, Dav-A5020, rare) and a single thaler (KM 41, Dav-5021, somewhat available).
