Kunker sale 263, lot 583
This specimen was lot 583 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,196 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Augsburg, STADT Reichstaler 1625, mit Titel Ferdinands II. St. Ulrichstaler. Sehr attraktives Exemplar mit herrlicher Patina, vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Augusburg, thaler of 1625, in the name of Ferdinand II, depicting St. Ulrich. Very attractive example with great patina, extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1625 only and is a fairly common issue for this locale. The pine cone is the symbol of the city.
