This specimen was lot 652 in Jean Elsen sale 115 (Brussels, December 2012) where it sold for €1200 (about US$1,832 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ARTOIS, Comté, Philippe II (1555-1598), AR écu Philippe, 1587, Arras. Droit : B. cuirassé à droite. Revers : Ecu couronné avec écusson de Portugal en surtout, sur une croix de Bourgogne, entre deux briquets, portant le bijou de la Toison d'or. Rare. Rogné. Beau portrait. Ex HSA 1091. Très Beau à Superbe. (county of Artois, Philip II (1555-98), silver écu of 1587, Arras mint. Obverse: armored bust to right; reverse: crowned arms including the shield of Portugal over a Burgundian cross with the jewels of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Rare, clipped, nice portrait, very fine to extremely fine.)"
Artois was conquered and annexed to France soon after this coin was issued.
