Sincona sale 43, lot 4123
This specimen was lot 4123 in Sincona sale 43 (Zurich, October 2017), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$418 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Halbbatzen 1816. FDC. Prachtexemplar. (canton of Appenzell, outer Rhoden, half batzen of 1816. Uncirculated, Most attractive piece.)"
This is the most available of the three dates, 1808, 1809, 1816. The monetary system was 4 pfennig = one kreuzer, 4 kreuzer = one batzen, 10 batzen = one franken.

Recorded mintage: 81,000.
