This specimen was lot 22110 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $258.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "ANGOLA. 6 Macutas, 1796. Maria I (1786-99). NGC VF-35. Exceptionally nice for the issue with light overall color and a remarkable amount of remaining luster." Silver coins minted for Angola in the eighteenth century include two, four, six, eight, ten and twelve macutas. None are common, especially in undamaged condition.

Recorded mintage: 20,000.

Specification: 12 g, .917 fine silver, 32 mm diameter.
