This copper twenty réis was issued in Brazil for Angola. The specimen was lot 23146 in Heritage sale 3012 (New York, January 2011), where it sold for $3,220. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pedro II of Portugal copper 20 Reis 1695, KM1 for Angola, VF-XF with light brown surfaces and exceptionally bold design features on both sides. Lightly porous as is typical for this series struck for circulation throughout the Portuguese colonial territories. Rarely seen this nice." This type is scarce and the date is rare (other dates include 1693-99).

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 14.6-19.28 g, copper, 36 mm diameter.
