Sincona sale 33, lot 2735
This specimen was lot 2735 in Sincona sale 33 (Zurich, October 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Erzherzog Leopold V. 1619-1632 Taler 1620. Ensisheim. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, archduke Leopold V, 1619-32, thaler of 1620, Ensisheim mint. Almost extremely fine-extremely fine)"
This type, from Ensisheim in Alsace, is mentioned by Davenport for 1620 only and as fairly common. The French occupied the mint in 1632 and production ceased.
