UBS sale 83, lot 2591
This specimen was lot 2591 in UBS sale 83 (Zurich, September 2009) where it sold for CHF 2000 ($2299 including buyer's fee). The catalog description noted,
"4 Franken 1812. FDC," (Aargau 1812 4 franken, uncirculated).
Aargau, a small canton on the Rhine between Zurich and Basel, struck coins until 1831. This rare type was accompanied by a five batzen piece. The monetary system was 4 pfennig = 1 kreuzer, 4 kreuzer = 1 batzen, 10 batzen = 1 franken.

Recorded mintage: 2,527.
