Jean Elsen sale 133, lot 1344
This specimen was lot 1344 in Jean Elsen sale 133 (Brussels, June 2017), where it sold for €80 (about US$106 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NEDERLAND, WEST-FRIESLAND, AR Nederlandse rijksdaalder, 1619. Vz/ Geharnast en gelauwerd borstbeeld n.r. met zwaard en provinciewapen. Kz/ Gekroond generaliteitswapen. Fraai à Zeer Fraai. (province of Westfiresland, silver Dutch rixdaalder of 1619. Obverse: armored, laureate half-length bust with sword and provincial arms; reverse: crowned arms of the Generality. Fine to very fine.)"
This type was struck 1607-93 along with lion daalders (Dav-4870) silver ducats (Dav-4908), ducatons (Dav-4941) and three gulden (Dav-4961).
