Kunker sale 263, lot 1408
This specimen was lot 1408 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €3,400 (about US$4,392 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Waldeck, FÜRSTENTUM Georg Victor, unter Vormundschaft seiner Mutter Emma, 1845-1852. Vereinsdoppeltaler 1847. R Prachtexemplar. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, principality of Waldeck, George Victor, under the regency of his mother, 1848-52, double union thaler of 1847. Scarce, proof, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This rare type was issued while the prince was a minor, hence his bust does not appear. Waldeck surrendered its sovereignty to Prussia in 1867.

Recorded mintage: 1,000.

Specification: 37.12 g, .900 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-927; AKS 43; Kahnt 550; Thun 408, KM 63.
