Aureo sale 232, lot 2371
This Spanish four reales de vellon was struck at the Valencia mint in 1823. Unlike the traditional four reales, which was half a peso, this coin was worth only a fifth of a peso. This specimen was lot 2371 in Aureo y Calico sale 232 (Barcelona, March 2011), where it sold for 52 euros (about US$86 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1823. Valencia. 4 reales. MBC. (Four reales of 1823, Valencia mint, very fine.)"

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 5.41 g, .903 fine silver, .157 troy oz ASW.
