The specimen shown was lot 151 in a Aureo y Calicó sale (Barcelona, March 2011), where it sold for $____. The catalog description[1] noted,
"1699. Sevilla. M. 8 escudos. Anv.: ... GRAT. Con el escusón de Portugal. Insignificantes golpecitos. Bella. Brillo original. Muy rara. EBC-. (Eight escudos of Seville, 1699. Obverse legend 'GRAT', with arms of Portugal. Tiny nicks, nice, original luster and rare thus; nearly extremely fine.)
This type was issued at Seville this year only. The SCWC lists another variety with "GRAC" in the obverse legend.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.7 g, .917 fine gold, .809 troy oz.
