This specimen was lot 25556 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $5,287.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Catherine II Rouble 1790 CПБ-ЯA, Bust right / Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date and value, MS62 NGC. The date appears to be an overdate. The obverse is brilliant, frosty white, while the reverse has a touch of gray patina over lustrous surfaces." This type is listed for 1783-96 and is among the common rubles of Catherine II.

Recorded mintage: 239,000 (a somewhat better date).

Specification: 24 g, .750 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM C67c; Bitkin 252, Diakov 648 (R2); Dav-1686.
