Künker sale 293, lot 330
This specimen was lot 330 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €10,000 (about US$13,478 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH Friedrich Wilhelm I. der Soldatenkönig, 1713-1740. Reichstaler 1719, IGN, Berlin. FRID : WILH : D : G : REX : BORVSS : EL : BR : Geharnischtes Brustbild r. mit umgelegtem Ordensband//Gekröntes, mehrfeldiges Wappen mit gekröntem Mittelschild, zu den Seiten der Krone die geteilte Jahreszahl 17 - 19, unten die geteilte Signatur I : G - : N : (Johann Georg Neubauer, Münzmeister in Berlin 1718-1725). Von größter Seltenheit. Attraktives Exemplar mit hübscher Patina, sehr schön/sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William I, the Soldier King, 1713-40, thaler of 1719, Berlin mint. Obverse: armored bust right with folded Order ribbon; reverse: crowned manifold arms with crowned escutcheon divides date, mintmaster's initials below.)"
This one year type is very rare as are all Prussian thalers prior to the 1750's. It is not priced in the SCWC. Dav-2575 is also reported for 1719.
