This specimen was lot 22363 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $558.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "Penny Token 1858, AU53 BN NGC, T.S. Forsaith, Draper in Auckland. Very scarce issue, toned brown with some small contact marks." The SCWC comments, "Because of a shortage of British money, New Zealand merchant tokens were issued beginning in 1857. There were some 147 varieties issued in 10 cities, although the majority were issued in Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Dunedin."

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.
