This two réis, minted in Lisbon for the Portuguese colony of Mozambique, was issued 1853 only. This type is rather scarce. Portuguese issues for her colonies was rather scanty in the nineteenth century. In 1853, one, two, five, ten and twenty réis were issued for Mozambique; as the five, ten and twenty réis matched the regular homeland series they are listed under Portugal.

Recorded mintage: 100,000.
