Morton & Eden sale 104, lot 326

This specimen was lot 326 in Morton & Eden sale 104 (London, November 2019), where it sold for £280 (about US$434 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic, half-real, Guadalajara mint, 1839/8/7 JG/FS, good extremely fine and toned." This specimen was struck at the Guadalajara mint in 1839, one of a type struck there 1825-62. Assayer JG is listed for 1837-39, 1842-43 and 1845-62. The SCWC lists 1839/8 JG/FS (scarce) and 1839 MC (common).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.69 g, .903 fine silver, .049 troy oz ASW.
