Mexico 1839Go 4 reales rev DSLR.jpg

Shown is an 1839-Go PJ four reales, one of a type struck at the Guanajuato mint 1835-70. Assayer PJ is recorded for 1834-42. Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which Guanajuato is tied with Zacatecas as the commonest mint. The early dates from Guanajuato in the 1830's are not so common as the later issues. The eagle on the "REPUBLICA MEXICANA" side is called the "concave wing" die style and appears until 1843.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.54 g, .903 fine silver, .392 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 375.4.
