Sta ANA-1271r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1271 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 4 Escudos, 1839-GoPJ. NGC MS-62. Nice strike. Lustrous and very attractive." Guanajuato is the most available mint for this scarce denomination. The SCWC notes this as a better date.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.54 g, .875 fine gold, .381 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-83; KM-381.4.
