The specimens shown are 1810Mo four escudos with an imaginary bust of Ferdinand VII. The type was struck 1810-12. The second specimen was lot 3220 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $4255. The catalog description[1] noted, "1810 HJ 4 escudos. Mexico City mint. AU-53 (NGC). Types as above. Lustrous yellow gold, a few little rim nicks noted on each side, natural rim flaw beneath mintmark, a few hairlines. Nearly Mint State and lovely, with nearly complete lustre and reflective surfaces. An exemplary specimen of this scarce denomination. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.53 g, .875 fine gold; the Eliasberg specimen is 13.52 grams, 30.40 mm diameter.
