This specimen was lot 24680 in Heritage sale 3016 (New York, January 2012), where it sold for $10,580. The catalog description[1] noted, "Felipe V gold 8 Escudos 1743-MF, AU58 NGC, a beautiful coin and extremely nice for the grade with lots of flashy peripheral luster, strong strike and full details on the king's hair. Rarely seen in this exceptional quality." This eight escudos was one of a series struck in Mexico 1732-47 during the reign of Philip V (1700-1746). It superseded the gold cobs previously minted.

Specification: 27.07 grams, .917 fine gold, .798 troy oz AGW.
