Sincona sale 51, lot 4117
The first specimen was lot 5589 in Sincona sale 4 (Zurich, October 2011), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$3,193 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Luzern Dukat 1741. Gekröntes, von zwei wilden Männern flankiertes Wappen. Rv. Jahreszahl und Inschrift auf Kartusche. Rv. min. Prägeschwäche. Vorzüglich (Switzerland, canton of Luzerne, ducat of 1741. Obverse: two wild men of the forest support the crowned city arms; reverse: date and city name in cartouche. Reverse slightly weakly struck, extremely fine.)"
The second specimen was lot 4117 in Sincona sale 51 (Zurich, October 2018), where it sold for 7,000 CHF (about US$8,444 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"Stadt und Kanton Luzern, Dukat 1741. Sehr selten. Vorzüglich-FDC. (city and canton of Lucerne, ducat of 1741. Very rare, Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"
The ducats of Lucerne are all rare; this one is the most available.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.49 g, .979 fine gold, .109 troy oz AGW; the first specimen is 3,44 g; the second specimen is 3.42 g.
