Jean Elsen sale 125, lot 1276
This specimen was lot 1276 in Jean Elsen sale 125 (Brussels, June 2015), where it sold for €480 (about US$639 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"LIEGE, Principauté, Georges d'Autriche (1544-1557), AR daler à l'écu, 1556, Hasselt. Au titre de Charles Quint. D/ Cartouche aux armes de l'évêque, accosté de 15-56. R/ Aigle impériale couronnée. Belle patine Très Beau. Provient de la collection J.-M. Chouters et de notre vente 70, 15 juin 2002, 1897. (prince-bishopric of Liege, Goerge of Austria (1544-57), silver daler of the shield of 1556, Hasselt mint, struck in the name of Charles V. Obverse: cartouche with the arms of the bishopric divides the date; reverse: crowned imperial eagle. Nice patina, very fine.)"
