This twenty-five centavos with the head of Rafael Carrera was struck in Guatemala in 1869-70. It represents the first attempt to introduce decimal currency, which was not fully implemented until 1912. This type is not expensive in circulated condition but is seldom seen. It was superseded by the slouched Liberty type struck 1881-89.
