This specimen was lot 4852 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $2,127.50. The catalog description [2] noted, "Great Britain. Proof Shilling, 1887. Victoria, 1837-1901. Jub[il]ee. Mintage 1,084 pieces struck. Gem Proof with gorgeous golden blue and mauve iridescent toning, its mirrors deeply reflective. Finest we have ever seen. NGC graded Proof 67 Ultra Cameo." This type, struck 1887-89, superseded the young head type struck 1838-87 in various styles. Both were issued in 1887 but the Jubilee head is much more common.

Recorded mintage: 4,034,000 (including young head) plus 1,084 proofs.

Specification: 5.65 g, .925 fine silver, .168 troy oz ASW.
