This specimen was lot 22965 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, 1874. PCGS MS-63 RB Secure Holder. S-3954; KM-749.2. Sharply struck with light brown tone and a fair amount of mint red. From the Brighton Collection." This penny was struck 1860-74 in several varieties and is common, tho the proofs are rare. Worn specimens fill dealer junk boxes. Numerous varieties exist.

Recorded mintage: 5,622,000 (incl. KM 755), a slightly better date.

Specification: 9.4 g, bronze, 30.8 mm diameter.
