This specimen was lot 33347 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George III gold Guinea 1777 AU53 NGC, Royal mint. Original luster remains around the protected fields and no singularly distracting marks are evident." This type, one of several used during George's long reign, is noted for 1774-86.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.

Specification: 8.35 g, .917 fine gold, .246 troy oz AGW.
