from Stack's Bowers 2017 NYINC sale, lot 6444

This specimen was lot 6444 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. 3/4 Ducat, 1790. Leopold II. NGC MS-62. Commemorates the coronation of Emperor Leopold II in Frankfurt. The date is incorrect on the slab tag." Frankfurt issued this denomination 1711, 1745, 1764, 1790, 1792. All dates are scarce. This issue was accompanied by single (Fr-1017) and double ducats (Fr-1016).

Specification: 2.62 g, .986 fine gold.
