Jean Elsen sale 122, lot 910
France An 14W franc rev JElsen 122-910.jpg
This specimen was lot 910 in Jean Elsen sale 122 (Brussels, September 2014), where it sold for €190 (about US$291 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"FRANCE, Napoléon Ier (1804-1814), AR 1 franc, an 14 W, Lille. presque Très Beau. (France, Napoleon I (1804-14), silver one franc of the year 14, Lille mint, about very fine.)"
This issue, from the Lille mint, is a scarce issue of a type struck in France AN 12-14. A complete set of this type comprises 39 date and mintmark combinations, some very rare. In 1806 the French revolutionary calendar was dropped and normal AD dating resumed.

Specification: 23 mm diameter, 5 grams, .900 fine silver, decorated edge. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier, 1763-1819.

Recorded Mintage: 4,661 but likely higher[1].

Catalog reference: F.201/39, KM 656.11, Gad-443.
