Sincona sale 26, lot 3103
This specimen was lot 3103 in Sincona sale 26 (Zurich, October 2015), where it sold for 1,450 CHF (about US$1,791 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"France, I. Kaiserreich. Napoleon I. 1804-1815 1/2 Franc AN14 (1805). U, Turin. Sehr selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (France, first Empire, Napoleon I, 1804-15, half franc of the year 14, Turin mint. Very rare, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck in France at numerous mints AN 12-14 and a complete set comprises 28 dates and mintmarks. This date from the Turin mint is rare. Le Franc[2] reports no 1806-U half francs are known to exist.

Recorded mintage: 9,568.

Specification: 2.5 g, .900 fine silver, plain edge, 18 mm diameter, designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier (1763-1819); this specimen 2.48 g.
