This specimen is a copper sol struck at the Bordeaux mint in 1788. It is slightly scarce, being priced by Droulers[1] at 25% more than the common date (1791-A). Its face value was twelve deniers tournois. The type was struck in France 1777-91 and is known from Bordeaux for 1783-91.

Recorded mintage: est. 940,000.

Specification: 12.24 g, copper, 28-31 mm diameter, plain edge, designed by Benjamin Duvivier.
