This diminuitive coin, called a 1/20 écu "au bandeau", was the French equivalent of a half dime. In the coinage system of the ancien régime, the 1/20 écu = 6 sols. The type was struck 1740-69 but is recorded for the La Rochelle mint ("H") in 1741 and 1752 only.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not common.

Specification: 1.47 g, .917 fine silver, 18-19 mm diameter.
