Heritage sale 3064, part of lot 29057
France H3064-29057b.jpg

This specimen was part of lot 29057 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), which sold for $240. The catalog description[2] noted, "Trio of Louis XIV Minor Silver Coins, 1) 1/4 Écu aux palmes 1693-A XF, Paris mint. ...From the Doug Robins Collection of Canadian Tokens." It succeeded the quart d'écu aux 8 L struck 1690-93 and was superseded by the quart d'écu aux insignes struck 1701-03. It is more common than either type and the 1693-A is a common date.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common (all flans reformées)[1].

Specification: 6.86 g, .917 fine silver, 27-28 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Joseph Roéttiers.

Catalog reference: Dr/4 no. 691, Dr/2 no. 414, KM 293.1, Gad-152.
